And thank you for helping to pave the self-publishing way for the rest of us! :-) I'm so glad you're putting your book out in print, as well, because I also plan to buy a copy as a gift, and I'm not sure my niece has an e-reader. Of course, I'll be reading your book before I wrap it. :-)

Congratulations on your debut!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-13921659991253682232011-04-25T13:44:27.303-04:002011-04-25T13:44:27.303-04:00Thanks for sharing all this wonderful info, Amanda...Thanks for sharing all this wonderful info, Amanda, and for blazing the trail. I don't have an e-reader yet (hope to remedy this soon) but look forward to reading the rest of it! And the change of attitude is too. Like you, I remember last year thinking "never ever no way" and now it would be stupid for an aspiring author NOT to consider this path to publication as at least a possibility.

I think it will be interesting to see how many more Amanda Hockings are waiting in the wings and what ways indie-pubbing will change. Will it morph from a "frontier" industry with prospectors striking it rich to a "civilized town" filled with a lot of middle men getting their piece? We'll have to see!

Congrats on Codename: Dancer and targeting an underserved market. Sounds like both are winning moves!!Keely Thrallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05656529091898492453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-68973539397343986012011-04-25T10:02:49.297-04:002011-04-25T10:02:49.297-04:00Thanks so much to the Rockville 8 ladies for havin...Thanks so much to the Rockville 8 ladies for having me today.

Carlene, yes, the book will be in print in mid-May. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-91736353445978818302011-04-25T09:41:12.558-04:002011-04-25T09:41:12.558-04:00Yes, just as Kimberly said, there is a huge readin...Yes, just as Kimberly said, there is a huge reading audience of kids who need something right there in the middle. I can't tell you how many YA books my eleven year old niece wants to read and luckily she asks my opinion. I usually have to sway her away from them because they're just too steamy. Plus, these kids are pretty technologically advanced. I'll have to check and see if she has an e-reader. If not, will your book be in print as well? Congratulations! Traditional publishers often tie the editors hands as to what they can buy. They're definitely missing out on a lot of great books, but business is business and they're looking out for the bottom line.

I'm so excited for you book to come out. My nine-year-old daughter is an *avid* reader, and I can quickly see us approaching that stretch as she gets older. For now, she is enthralled with things like Nancy Drew, but she can easily read one in a sitting, and I see her craving longer books. It's a tough line with subject matter though. I'm glad to know that someone's thinking of the in-between for the years to come!

In the meantime, I want to read this :)

Kimberly KincaidKimberly Kincaidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08695217276334765907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-54111587049686702922011-04-25T07:03:26.649-04:002011-04-25T07:03:26.649-04:00Great post Amanda!
