I tried to stick w/ what I knew too, but I knew there'd be some research at the end. I'm glad I waited until the emotional structure was in place before I started researching. It made the process more streamlined.

Now what about those chilli cheese fries?Shellie Williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14597975902316586870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-18412986649840611332012-08-10T11:59:50.712-04:002012-08-10T11:59:50.712-04:00Fun post, Shellie!

Maybe that means I'm not looking into things very far from my own knowledge base. In otherwords, maybe I write what I know with a little unknown on the side thrown in. I guess a good way to look at it Is everybody needs a little something, something on the side, right?

Like chili cheese fries...
Or strawberry sauce...
Or...Nichole Christoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09799006710672537142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-28724402919468616692012-08-07T18:21:17.475-04:002012-08-07T18:21:17.475-04:00Thanks kathy. Did you have friends or colleagues that could help? Not being friends w/ your informant has the blessing that they won't ask you how that book is coming along every time you see them in the grocery store.Shellie Williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14597975902316586870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-7209444977518114192012-08-07T16:04:29.617-04:002012-08-07T16:04:29.617-04:00Shellie, I can't wait to read this [well-resea...Shellie, I can't wait to read this [well-researched] story! It sounds so thrilling! And kudos to you for putting yourself out there--sure, it sounds easy, asking someone basic questions about what they do, and we always hear that people are anxious to talk about their careers, but...we're introverts. Cold-querying someone is *hard* for us. But you did it, for the sake of your story, and now you're my shero! :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-19131074749369465272012-08-06T12:55:16.085-04:002012-08-06T12:55:16.085-04:00Hi Evie,

Its a form of accountability to myself.

My advice: Go for it... and buy a Starbucks gift card for your informant. At least you'll feel it was worth their while.Shellie Williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14597975902316586870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-13281756862970698572012-08-06T12:49:42.633-04:002012-08-06T12:49:42.633-04:00Keely,

That sounds cool and makes life so much easier. But then when you make up your own werewolf rules, you're sort of creating "research" and if you forget something you'll have to conduct research on yourself. Like you, Shellie, I have a very hard time asking people for help things. And I have a sort of amorphous handle on my story so when I do try to talk about it, I have a hard time getting it across. Still, it has to be done, right?

Love the tale of how you research your wonderful books. Can't wait to see this one on the shelves.

:-)Evie Owenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00309651867249109418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115759973832197426.post-73660453371370668832012-08-06T11:26:08.286-04:002012-08-06T11:26:08.286-04:00Research. But even then, there are times when I lose myself during an Internet search. Or more often, I spend a wee bit too much time with the thesaurus looking up another word for...you name it.

I lurve looking up words. And when I find a good one, sometimes I want to know its origins so that gets me to the dictionary. Which can lead me to other sites, which can lead me to....research. Hmmm. I'm going to have to rethink this!Keely Thrallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05656529091898492453noreply@blogger.com
